Art Camp - India (May 24 - 29, 2010)
Beginning
May 2010, the Children's Art Village ("CAV") will begin a sustainable
art & music program at the Sevalaya Orphanage located in a small
village 20 miles outside of Chennai, India. Chennai, is located in the
southeast coast of India on the Bay of Bengal. Sevalaya in Sanskrit
means Temple of Service. The Sevalaya is home to 180 orphans
and is active in servicing its community of impoverished and deprived.
The Sevalaya administers a school serving 1,050 children - 180 of the
Sevalaya orphans and 870 day students from the surrounding area. It is
an honor for the Children's Art Village to be able to partner with the
Sevalaya Orphanage and band in a common belief of serving abandoned
children.
It is our hope at CAV to give these children at the Sevalaya
orphanage an opportunity to express themselves and transcend above
their impoverished condition. There is an opportunity for 15 artist
volunteers from the United States who would like to join us for a
week-long summer art program. Afterwards, the Children's Art Village
will endow for two (2) full-time art and music teachers who will
continue to give the children at the Sevalaya a continuum of the
Creative Arts experience. Won't you join us in India? For more
